The socks have landed.
August 4, 2007 at 7:25 pm | In knitting, sockpalooza, socks, swaps | 3 CommentsMy sockapalooza 4 socks have arrived. They are beautiful. They were knit by Jennifer from TN.
Here they are in the 90+ degree NC weather (ok, its really my living room which explains the crap pictures).
The pictures don’t do the pattern or the yarn justice. It is a blue-green-silver-grey color that is going to perfect for jeans or khakis. The pattern is her first lacy one and it looks fabulous. She did a great job keeping track of all those YO’s!!!
Thank you for the wonderful socks.
Leavin’ on a mail plane.
August 2, 2007 at 4:50 pm | In knitting, sockpalooza, socks, swaps | 1 CommentToday’s the big sockapalooza mail date! Everything is packed, sealed, and postage done. All that is left is for the mail pickup around 4pm. Boy I hope the socks fit (is anyone else worried about that??).

There are some postcards, a few corny sock pictures from town, some goodies, the socks, and a new knitting bag. Sock Pal, when you read this, don’t examine my seams to closely on the bag…I am a newbie seamtress. The other important thing, put the cookie mix from The Old Mill in the refridgerator.

I hurriedly put together a sock sleeve. I wanted a contrasting color, but I don’t think the robin’s egg blue really works with the reds in the sock but I didn’t have any other cardstock that looked any better.
Sockapalooza 4 was a great experience for me. I enjoyed picking and buying a new yarn and finding a pattern that would look nice with it. I loved working with Cider Moon (the yarn and the company are great!). Before these socks, I hadn’t knit using a varigated/tonal yarn before. I enjoyed traveling around town trying to find some postcards. Who knew they would it would be a hunt to find a postcard? If I had been more organized, I would have done a little information card about High Point, but time, life, and laziness got in the way of that one. Besides, this isn’t the vacation swap, its a sock swap!
I hope the socks fit!
Assorted Thoughts on Sale–Cheap!
June 15, 2007 at 5:16 pm | In Family, knitting, swaps | 1 CommentI just found out about a new swap and though you might be interested. I am not a really big swapper, mainly because we don’t have much money for extra. My philosophy is if I can’t play nicely (lots of cool, yummy, yarny extras), then why play? This particular swap is a sort of relay race for Dishcloths. Check out the Dish Rag Tag if you are interested.
I don’t know if I told you this, but I loathe laundry. I just had to get that out of my system.
I just started Casts Off yesterday afternoon and I have to say (like a gazillion other knitters, I’m sure) it is a great book. I have more thougths on the Land of Knititing, but rainy days and kids don’t give me much time to blog or write about it. Besides, there is no way I can be as eleoquent as the Yarn Harlot. Have you read it? What did you think?
The grandparents are coming to visit next week and I am in cleaning mode. I spent yesterday cleaning the kitchen counters and the refrigerator. Boy, they look GREAT. It is amazing how clutter and daily grime really bog you down. I wish I could take a picture to show you how sparkly new they look.
Speaking of the camera. An email from Cannon arrived yesterday announcing they were fixing the problem and even better news, they were doing it for FREE! What luck. I can’t wait to have it fixed and back, because I missed some great shots the other day at the park.
